The Gibson Robot Guitar is a self-tuning guitar with presets for different tunings e.g. DADGAD. First video is a promotional video based on a spoof of the Hitchcock movie Psycho and suggests that Fender, Gibson’s long time rival, is going down with the introduction of the Robot Guitar. The second video shows how the Robot Guitar actually works.

See below for videos on the Fender VG. I still think the Fender VG, released earlier, presents users with more options. The best thing about the VG is its ease of use, something that really appeals to me. I got a POD XT Live but hated going through the manual and up till now, I still don’t fully utilise the POD XT cos I can’t be bothered to read the manual. The only downside for the VG as far as I can tell are the 4 AA batteries to power the digital functions e.g. different tunings, different tonal options (e.g. tele or accoustic). I understand the batteries last for a maximum of ten hours.

Sigh. I guess I should feature the Variax too, which came onto the scene before the VG. First see the videos from line 6 here.
Custom Variax Demo
And here are some videos of pretty impressive playing on a variax by an unknown guitarist, on youtube. He has too many good videos for me to link here. This guy’s playing is really inspiring. I need to practise more and also seriously consider buying a Variax guitar.

It easily took me 4 hours to find and view all the videos for this post. I’m spending way too much time on the net and blogging. I don’t get enough online ad revenue to do this and my eyes get strained from being in front of the computer so much. I’m not sure if blogging this post is the best way to spend my time. I just hope someone finds all this useful or interesting.
I should get back to practising or reading.
Very helpful in me selecting this type of guitar.
I like the custom Variax and the Fender VG
Thanks for sorting it out!
Do, I’m glad someone (you) found this post useful. At least I did not completely waste my time on this post.
